Installation woes

Following this instructions:

and first of all, i had to watch a video to read the instructions, I wonder how hard that would have been if i was blind, so not happy about having to watch a video to get the text.

it appears to say “bk run”

I installed the latest release 3.0.0-beta.20240712 but it has no run command.

not able to install this, the instuctions for building dont mention how to install, only how to build from source. Installation woes · Issue #330 · buildkite/cli · GitHub see this issue

Hey @h4k!

Thanks for your message and welcome to the community.

That is a complete oversight on our part as we develop v3 of the CLI. We should annotate in main to install the CLI at v2, which I’ve just opened a PR for.

To save you a click, you’ll need to remove the current version with brew uninstall, then re-install using:

brew install buildkite/buildkite/buildkite-cli@2

Cheers and apologies for the confusion!

Okay but I don’t have Brew I mean I guess I could install Linux Brew. I’m working on the Mina protocol. mina/buildkite at develop · MinaProtocol/mina · GitHub and I’m trying to develop on Linux’ it appears that they’re using build kite to then run dhall which generates Nix which then is run. I just want a way to run this locally in a reproducible manner without having to relearn everything.

@h4k

If you install this version, rather than one of the beta ones then you should have access to run.

Cheers!
