Can buildkite pipeline support annotation scoped to a build step? We have a big release pipeline for multiple services and often we would like to present deployment summary as annotation for a specific service. But having annotation scoped to build will make it very cluttered.

Step level annotations are not available; it is something that’s been looked at in the past and may be again in the future but at this time isn’t something that is being worked on.

What is the general hesitation in supporting this feature? I can imagine whole BK community can benefit with this. There are often information around buildkite step which user want to see. Having it scoped to build level make it harder to look through step related info

The product team is working on options to support step level annotation, and once we land on a direction, we’ll update our documentation as well !

What Ivanna is trying to say is that we are still exploring options on how to support step level annotations at the moment and nothing concrete is still being worked on. We cannot provide any specific timeline yet for this feature. Hope that helps.
